BSD 6v6 Tournament – First draft of rules

19 Apr

BSD Ruleset for Group vs Group Matches.

Update: Banners have been requested to be removed by several people. This is being discussed further.

Armor/Weapons
Any armor/talismans etc.. is fine.

Spells/Abilities
Anything is fine. Including self rez etc..

Consumables
Anything goes, including but not limited to: Armor pots, Liniments, banners, rez pots.
*Note: If you cannot afford these items, we will see what we can do to get anything you need at cost for matches if notified ahead of time.

Arena Zone
The Maw: Everything between the outer walls and the inner keep. No one enters the inner keep and no one goes up on the outer walls. Everything else is part of the zone and you may use any obstacles or open area as you see fit.

Start/Reset area:
-Order team starts outside the fort at the middle door in South Maw.
-Destruction team starts outside the fort at the door in North Maw.

*More forts may be added to this as they are checked out/tested.

Winning Criteria
A match, at least for preliminary rounds will be win 2 out of 3 games. Finals may be 3 out of 5.

To win a game, you need to wipe the other group completely. You will be told when you have won.

Time Limits for preperation
When your group is reset back in the starting area between matches, you have 3 minutes to rebuff and be ready for the start call. There is no respeccing/leaving the zone between matches. Any longer cooldowns is not a concern during this phase and will not be accomodated.

Spectators
While I would love to have spectators, it is just too much work, so match times will be a secret and only known by the two teams scheduled to compete. It is expected that players participating would follow this rule just to keep things easier.

Match Stalemate
If teams have not engaged each other by ~5min mark, the refs may force both teams to go to a smaller area (such as the east or west side of the fort) . This will be defined better.

These are a first draft. The goals are to keep as little rules in place as possible, but still have a defined match. Now is a great time to voice any concerns and issues you feel might come up, and we can try to head off as many things as possible.

BSD 6v6 Tournament – Update

16 Apr

Keep your feedback coming. I am getting emails from some people doing 6v6 in Europe offering tips/suggestions as well as some neat CTF ideas as well.

Hoping to test the waters and do a bit of a preview video with the matches this weekend and push some advertising next week. Will depend a lot on how well my hockey team does, we have playoffs atm, and if we keep winning, they keep flooding us with games. I anticipate that I should have lots of time though…

BSD 6v6 Tournament brings forts back to Warhammer Online

14 Apr

6v6 tournament

Forts are coming back to use Warhammer Online!

Forts will be the arena grounds for a 6v6 tournament hosted by BSD (backseatdev.com) to determine the top 6 man teams on each server.

When is it?
The start date will be announced soon, but the aim is to collect teams and get the rules debated/finalized during the last couple weeks of April, then get a rough schedule out for May 1st. So please move fast.

Who is eligible?
If you play on a North American server you are eligible.

How do I sign up?
Send an email to tyanon@backseatdev.com and include the following information:
-Your Server and (Order/Destro)
-You team name (keep it clean’ish).
-Your team members and class
-Ways to get a hold of your team for scheduling

When do I sign up
Now! ASAP! For organizing purposes I need to know what kind of help I will need to run this and from what servers.

What do I get for winning?
You mean your considering this tournament and e-peen isn’t enough? What about the fun of some premade vs premade group competition? Very well, I will work on getting some sort of prizes if we can get a good turn out.

What do I get for participating?
The Mythic is strong in this one…let me see what I can dig up for this as well, I would love to have some random prizes for participants. It is meant to be fun, anyone can and is encouraged to enter a team and have fun with it!

When/where will matches be?
Matches will attempted to be coordinated between the two teams. Most likely exact times/places will not be announced to the public to minimize the chance of interference. The matches will hopefully take place in the empty forts. Which forts may vary from match to match.

Will there be any rules?
Rules are still being determined, but will be sent out to the teams prior to any matches once finalized. I would actually love to have some feedback on setting up some rules. At this point in time the rules will look to be something like this:

-Anything goes as far as gear/weapons/pots. (too hard to control otherwise)
-Must stay within the confines of the fort or on the walls
-If you get punted outside the walls, you must immediately come back in
-Rezzing is allowed, releasing and running back is not.

How many matches will I get?
This is still being determined and will probably have a lot to do with participation. My hope would be an exhibition match then move into a ladder/bracket format.

I am not interested in participating but would like to help?
I am going to need some volunteers from each server to help oversee the matches. Toss me an email at tyanon@backseatdev.com if your willing/able to help.

I think this is a terrible idea because……
Please, post up your comments. If it is something we can head off up front, I would love to hear it.

Your still listing things, why am I still reading?
Good question. Go rally your team! Tell your server! Get the word out!

An information page will be up at http://www.backseatdev.com/6v6
