Paid transfers. Good option, but not a solution – Warhammer Online

03 Nov

Today Mythic announced some new entitlement features. While I have personally pushed for these types of things for a while, the server transfer option is my biggest focus.

My biggest issue with the game, by far, is the population on my home server of Iron Rock. So many people have been lost just due to lack of action and scenerio pops. I feel the unhealthy servers should have been addressed before this was added in. Already I see people paying the fee and jumping off the server. Will this cause issues coming up with an actual solution to the server’s population issues? Will Mythic question offering transfers off the server if people just finished paying to move off?

A paid character transfer is a good option for special circumstances, but IT IS NOT a solution to an unhealthy server. I will not pay 25 cents to move my characters to a server that is healthy, let alone 40 dollars for my zealot and choppa.

I believe in this game, and I already have drafts written up selling the RvR packs and subscriptions to the guild to get people and friends back playing. I believe very strongly however that the servers are Mythics responsibility to keep running and populated so that a enjoyable game experience is mantained.

The price does seem a bit high at $19.95 per character. On average, I think most people have 2+ characters they enjoy playing on whatever server they play on. In my post on server transfers and transactions I think I suggested an option where an account would have 24hrs to make any server transfers for characters on the account that they wanted… I feel that would have been a better option for people with multiple characters.

I hope Mythic has plans for correcting unhealthy server populations and soon, because people are not really going to take too kindly to paying for something that becomes a free option sometime after, and those that are maintaining hope that Mythic does the right thing and helps the servers are growing even more frustrated.

$20 per character is outrageous especially since every server has its issues, and none are worth transferring too. I am so glad I was able to finally drop this game.

Everyone on badlands wants to leave because of lag. All other servers want to join badlands for activity.

Instead of balancing the servers for free they think there subscribers are so frustrated they will be willing to pay the 20 bucks.

I think it is going to make most servers a ghost town, and will probably be the final nail in the coffin.

I don’t know what they think. They may just have implemented the paid transfers with poor judgement in ordering. They should have made corrections to servers first, then offered it. Either way, I am withholding ultimate judgement until I find out if server corrections are coming before or with the rvr packs.

Maybe some RvR packs come with a server transfer. hehe.

Yeah, $20 is kind of ridiculous. But, people will pay it, after all I just did. I started off on Praag way back when, and then when that server got merged, on to Magnus. Same fate to that one, and ended up on Volkmar. Only problem was I had 6 or 7 characters to move. Lo and behold, I accidentally put one of my characters on Badlands by mistake (my slayer). Now he can finally be on my home server, and in my home guild. I’m happy about that, but still bitter that I had to pay $20 because I was too click-happy when transferring characters.

I gotta say that as far as paid server transfers go, $20 is not outrageous.

That said, I also agree that I will not be paying to move my characters off a dying server. I’m waiting to find out about any mergers/pop rebalancing that Mythic will do, rather than pay for something that will be happening in the not too distant future. (Well… It makes sense that it would be happening anyway… can’t always count on that I suppose).
