This latest patch for Warhammer online brought in a new batch of RvR items, earned with a new currency that will drop from scenerios, and in smaller amounts for different objectives.
There was some outrage at Mythic’s decision to have a new currency for these items as there is already a currency that drops in RvR. The main complaint being that by not letting people use their existing currency, it would give the “rich” players an advantage. The “rich” players being people that already have most or all of their end game gear.
The problem with this outrage is that this system, imo, was put in place to address that complaint as best as possible, people just didn’t realize it. A new currency puts everyone at the same starting line towards getting those weapons. In most cases, the “rich” players people were worried about, already had stacks of the old currency just waiting to instantly buy any new items added, which would just put the casual players or late starters further behind. This allows for both currencies to be earned and people to catch up to the “rich” players faster.
Most importantly however, I think adding a new currency adds new goals and carrots to the maxed out characters, giving them a reason to keep paying (not a typo).
I like this decision by Mythic and believe while it has its naysayers, it is the only choice.

Unfortunately, Mythic completely hamfisted the implementation of this new system.
In some fit of idiocy, Mythic has decided that they will reward winning and losing equally in a PvP game. Losing a scenario actually rewards the same number of tokens as winning. I can’t even imagine how the dev who thought this up is still employed.
Currently, the fastest way to the new endgame weapons is to AFK and lose as fast as possible so you can get back into the next scenario.
I play[ed] this game because it felt more skill based, and less of a meaningless grind. Now that I’m seeing the new intention of Mythic, I’m considering moving on.

I kinda thought the same thing when I first learned winning rewarded the same as losing, however, I did change my mind on it.
The emblems are simply a incentive to get people into the scenerios and make people participate in that part of the game x amount of times before they can receive their weapon/gear. In some cases just solo queueing outside of a premade group will get you faster emblem accrual then running in a premade and destroying every scen.
You can argue that winning should equal more of everything, renown, emblems, glory etc… but in a period of Warhammer where one of the biggest issues people list with the game is the fact that pre-mades are stomping everything. Not adding additional reasons to only run in a premade seems like a decent decision on Mythic’s part. There are still lots of reasons/rewards with winning.
As for the AFK issue, I would assume that AFK’ers will get what is coming to them, and if you find people afking, send in a report, and maybe send me a screenshot, I will post it up

The new RvR currency is a poor mans design. If you want the weapons you’re forced to grind the scenario’s for them (some RvR elements also provide tokens, but very little).
As much as I like this game (been playing for over a year now), I just don’t like the changes/direction Mythic seem to be going in lately – there is so much potential in this game, and they are bring almost zero of it out

ps. report an AFK’er? You’re joking right? What is your complaint, they are stopping you from doing something? They are cheating? They are being lazy?
If you have a bad design, then you must expect bad results!

The idea of reporting people going AFK in a scenario isn’t so much about getting something done about it immediately. It’s more a show of how many people are opposed to it which could lead to something more permanent being done about it.
It may be all over the forums, but that’s just the vocal minority. If the CSRs get bogged down with appeals about people going AFK in scenarios, Mythic will have to come up with a solution to it. I’d prefer a reporting system where if you’re in the wrong part of the map and not contributing, you get reported and then kicked with a 10-15 minute lockout from joining another scenario on top of the current renown loss debuff.
